Chapter 12
The Ultrasound

“Mmmmnh...” Sakura was asleep with Sasuke right by her, but not for long. Sakura slowly rolled over to face the window then....

THUD!

“Ow!” Sakura shouted then sat up rubbing her head. Sasuke sat up within seconds, he looked around frantically, but didn't find Sakura so he turned to climb off the bed, but his foot touched something soft....... and....warm. Sasuke immediately drew his foot back and looked down to see Sakura on the ground rubbing her head.

“What are you doing down there?” Sasuke chuckled then grabbed her hands to help her stand up.

“I fell off the bed.....” Sakura mumbled then walked to the door still holding her head.

“Again?” Sasuke shook his head then stood by her at the door, “You need to stop that. Especially since the bed is so high up off the floor....” Sasuke laughed then swung Sakura up into his arms and started down the stairs.

They got to the living room and Sasuke set Sakura down on the couch, “Ultrasound today.”

“Oh joy!” Sakura exclaimed sarcastically rolling her eyes then rolling onto the floor again, “What is up with me today?!”

“I don't know..... but let's go eat before you do it again, then we'll leave. 'Kay?” Sasuke grabbed Sakura off the floor and sat her down on a chair in the kitchen, “What do you want to eat?”

“Um... toast?” Sakura shrugged then laid her head on the table.

“Sakura, you need to eat more than that and you know it...” Sasuke walked to Sakura and kissed her forehead, “You're strong, there's no doubt about that....”

Sakura smiled then Sasuke walked back to the counter and cooked Sakura and himself some eggs and toast. They ate their meal silently, Sakura finished then Sasuke right after. Sakura stood up and put her plate and fork in the sink and started washing them. She jumped half out of her wits when Sasuke touched her arm stroking his hand up and down soothingly while gently talking to her, “Don't worry.... everything will be fine. I'm here for you, remember......”

“Yeah, yeah.... It's just, the needles.... I know I use them when I work, but... they still---”

Sasuke cut her off mid-sentence, “Scare you?” he raised an thin eyebrow and continued, “I know Sakura, but come on... I was well.... reading books on ultrasounds and it said that no needles are used so calm down, relax, shower, and change. But before you do all that I want you to let me join you.”

Sakura and Sasuke headed up the stairs one more time then Sakura did exactly what Sasuke had said; she relaxed, calmed down, showered, and well changed. They got to the door and Sakura's hand shook and she reached for her key to lock the house, Sasuke pulled his out and locked it before she had even gotten to her pocket.

“Sakura, I already told you it will be fine...” Sasuke soothed as he gently squeezed her hand.

“I know, I know.... but it's new and well..... it scares me.....” Sakura looked down at the ground, acting as though she were focusing very intently on the road to make sure not to trip on anything.

“What happened to the Sakura that stood up for herself? Now honestly, where'd the courage go?” Sasuke mused.

“B-but!!!” Sakura attempted to protest but failed none-the-less.

“Sakura, it's a doctor's office, for goodness sake you are a doctor are you not?”

“Y-yes, I am, but-”

“No more buts Sakura, we're here anyway...” Sasuke motioned to the large familiar building, that Sakura knew all too well.

Sasuke half dragged Sakura into the office and got her to sit down in the waiting room. A few moments later a nurse came up to them and asked, “Who are you here to see?”

Sasuke nodded in Sakura's direction, “It's for her, she gets her first ultrasound today.”

The nurse looked up from her clipboard and looked at Sakura, “Oh, she's been expecting you. Right this way.”
Sakura and Sasuke followed the nurse to a small room just around the corner with the room number written right by the doorway. The nurse showed Sasuke a seat, he nodded then walked over to Sakura and picked her up gently placing her on the bed in the room. He stood right by her as she sat on the bed shaking, he occasionally stroked her arm and it was silent until a loud woman's voice interrupted the silence.

“Sasuke!!!! So this is your wife?! My goodness she's beautiful!!! No wonder you chose her!” The doctor walked in and stood by Sasuke patting his back, “She's adorable too! Then again, why's she shaking?”

“She's nervous.” Sasuke answered then looked at eh doctor then looked back to Sakura, “Come on doc, why don't you introduce yourself?”

“Oh! Righto!” the doctor had long bright orange hair that was pulled back into a ponytail, black glasses, green eyes, and a huge smile. She looked at Sakura and held out her hand, “Pleased to meet you, I'm Doctor Yamazaki, but you can call me Michi.”

Sakura slowly reached her and up and shook Michi's, “I-i'm Sakura.... Uchiha.”

“Oh! I've heard of you from Lady Tsunade!!! She says that you are wonderful! I am so pleased to meet you in person Sakura, but I don't remember... what was your original last name?”

“Haruno, Sakura Haruno.” Sakura replied as she looked at the doctor in amazement.
“Oh, well then! Let's get started!” the doctor pulled on her plastic glove and began the procedure. The ultrasound was amazing, Sakura actually decided they weren't bad at all. And when it was finished she was amazed that it wasn't anywhere near as bad as she thought!!! She walked out the doors smiling and occasionally skipping lightly.

“Hey Sasuke.” Sakura smiled as she held Sasuke's hand and they headed home.

“Hn.”

“You were right.... that was actually, pretty fun.” Sakura smiled at Sasuke then looked forward again.

“Told you so.” Sasuke muttered then kissed Sakura's cheek.
